about

The first feeling you have arriving at Villa Torno is the strong energy emanating from a wild and uncontaminated place.

Landscape and Nature do the rest: the rock cavity in the basement and the breathtaking views towards the lake.

From within the villa, you will feel immersed in the lake's atmosphere, while the garden offers captivating views day and night, whether in sunshine or storms.

Villa Torno is a private retreat surrounded by conservation land, woods, and rocks, with a strong focus on blending indoor and outdoor living spaces. Set within a 5000-square-meter park, it features natural woods and terraced gardens framed by ancient quarry rocks.

The restoration preserved the original structure and materials wherever possible, aligning with contemporary tastes, efficiency, and comfort. The owner Erika has thoughtfully decorated the interiors, incorporating her art pieces along with pieces of primitive art.

This site was once a quarry for the renowned “pietra di Moltrasio” used to build many stately homes, including Villa Torno itself, which features this beautiful stone in its walls and walkways.

Villa Torno is perched in a commanding position above the picturesque village of Torno. To reach the property, you must drive past the village and take a narrow uphill road for about two minutes. If you plan to rent a car, we recommend choosing one with automatic transmission for ease of navigation.

Once you arrive, you'll park inside the property and take an 80-step ramp leading up to the villa, a journey often called "the ramp to paradise." This historic path is part of the 400-year-old “Via di Lizza,” which the owner Erika has carefully preserved. In the past, wooden sledges were pulled along this route, guided by ropes fastened to posts lining the way.

Please note, due to the nature of the terrain, Villa Torno is not suitable for guests with mobility issues. However, luggage assistance is provided, with someone available to bring your bags to the house.

During the winter months, heavy snowfall or storms may occasionally cause temporary access challenges.

For this reason, we suggest renting a 4x4 vehicle during the winter season for added convenience.
